The more time I spend hanging out in the virtual blogging world, the more I learn. I’m thankful that pretty much every day, I stumble across another talented individual who has something to share with the world. These people are making an impact using the wonderful platform which in case you haven’t noticed, is taking the world by storm.
Two weeks ago, I got a mail from the lovely Kerry of Fabulicious Fifty to say she was nominating me for the Liebster Award. Barely able to pronounce the word and thrilled that she even considered me and noticed my little blog, I frantically started Googling the concept. Now, I’ve learned about even more bloggers and, the world of blogging gets to learn even more about me.
For those who don’t know about it, allow me to inform you (it’s pretty straightforward, kind of like a pay it forward kind of thing). Once nominated, you need to do the following:
1) Thank and link back to the person(s) who nominated you and display the award.
2) Answer the 11 questions the nominee asked.
3) Give 11 random facts about yourself.
4) Nominate 11 bloggers to keep it moving.
5) Notify the bloggers you chose for the award.
6) Make a list of 11 different questions for your nominees to answer.
Kerry certainly posed some interesting questions which I was delighted to answer. I’ve reflected loads on numerous areas of my life, my views and the products I use.
*Did you have a nickname as a child – and what was it?
I had SEVERAL nicknames including Juney, Juney Puney (still used by many people), Juney Boos and Juney Spooney (a particular favorite). Luckily for me, my family and friends are really good at rhyming.
*Did you have an imaginary friend? Tell us please?
I never had an imaginary friend. I’m a no BS kind of person to be honest and have been this way since childhood. I also loved (and still love) my own company so I probably felt an imaginary friend would cramp my style :).
*Where do you come in your family? Is it a good or bad thing?
I’m the second in the family and the middle child. My baby sister is much younger so for quite a while I was the only middle child. Growing up, I felt it wasn’t a great thing to be honest as I suffered a bout of middle child syndrome. As an adult, I realise it’s a wonderful privilege as I have become an outgoing person, confident and a go-getter which is often the case with middle children.
* What is your TV guilty pleasure?
I love some shows on TLC which are just easy watching. There is a show I currently like called ’90 Day Fiance’ which is all about these couples in the states (one partner an expat) that need to decide if they want to marry by the end of that time period (90 days). There are so many different characters that I love and loathe however find the psychology of these people SO interesting.
* What is your best bath time routine – favourite products, scented candles?
I am a Lush queen. I use bath bombs such as ‘The Comforter’ or ‘Big Blue’ regularly. I have a bath nearly everyday as I find it so relaxing (today, I had two :))! I don’t always have a candle lighting in the bathroom but they are lit in my living room straight after usually. The best brand I’ve found lately is Celtic Candles which are BEAUTIFUL!
* What is the quote that defines your life?
“You’re entirely bonkers. But I’ll tell you a secret, all the best people are.” – Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland.
* What is your favourite exercise?
I have been changing it up lately as I’ve moved to the gym to do weights however what makes me quite happy is a nice walk on the beach. It’s head-clearing and a good work-out.
* Have you ever considered online dating?
No I haven’t. I’ve been in the same relationship since 2nd year in University and at that time, it wasn’t on the cards. I have loads of friends who’ve met their partners via online dating and think it’s a fantastic avenue.
*What triggered your first blog post?
I was feeling a bit hard on myself as regards my writing and wanted to find ways to improve. I felt that it would be a great platform to write what I wanted and it would lend itself well to development in this area. Also, I like having projects that are just mine and that I can develop. Now, I’m happy to share my thoughts with the world and hopefully, help people in some way.
*What beauty product in your make-up bag makes you feel really special?
I use lots of make-up products that make me feel special to be honest. But I do really love my Benefit mascara. I’m a fan of this product as when I’m tired, it makes me look more human and awake.
*The book that changed your life?
Definitely, ‘Feel the fear and do it anyway’ by Susan Jeffers. This book is AMAZING and made me jump outside my comfort zone and look at life differently. I’d highly recommend it to anyone who feels a little stuck or wants to be more positive or try something new. It’s fantastic.
I could tell you 100’s of very random facts about me. I’ll provide 11 of the most random today.
*I have lived in 5 different countries in my life and have always loved to see the world.
*I love avocados and eat them everyday.
*It’s a rare occasion that I watch the news. I find it too negative and depressing and therefore, avoid it.
*I wanted to be a solicitor throughout my childhood and teen years. I took a totally different route and now, work in marketing.
*At times, I’ve been known to prefer animals to people. I think they deserve way more credit.
*When I was in primary school, I barely spoke as I was painfully shy.
*I was a vegetarian for 11 years (until the age of 21).
*My boyfriend would describe me as a Monica. I find mess and lack of organisation stressful and so, clean often.
*I prefer real-life anything to fiction. This is reflected in my taste in books and movies.
*I really don’t understand laziness.
*I am super soft and empathetic. I notice everything especially when it comes to other people and their demeanor.
*I can be extremely tough on myself and regularly have to look at ways to pull back and take a breather.
I am nominating 11 bloggers that I love (below). They are all so fantastic and deserve some love. Be sure to check them out:
I am super nosey and so, have many questions however I’ve managed to narrow them down to the following:
*Why did you start your blog?
*What cause is closest to your heart? (This refers to charity or social issues).
*If you could describe yourself in 3 words, what would they be?
*Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
*What movie defines your life?
*If you could be anybody for a day, who would it be?
*Who do you admire most in the world?
*If you won the lottery tomorrow, what’s the first thing you’d do?
*What words do you try to live by?
*Do you have a bucket list?
*What’s your favourite meal in the world?
